We are the stag beetles. We do the work of the underground - decomposition.
Warriors of hidden worlds, for 7 years our larvae children feed in the dark on rotting wood, servicing the soil.
We dine on fruit and sup on sap, and fly at dusk. Thunderous Summer nights are for courting. Strong jawed muscle-heads, our men vanquish their rivals, tossing them high to impress our women.
Our apocalypse comes in the form of tidy humans.
In the Interspecies Cultural Assembly we represent all the decomposers, the land and water borne insects, beetles, worms, and amphibians of Finsbury Park.
